Top Gear Reviews Nissan Leaf

The BBC series Top Gear is without a doubt one of the top rated car review shows of all time. Top Gear host, Jeremy Clarkson, has created a name for the world renowned car review show with his brutal honesty, opinions and dry humor. As many of you know, if Clarkson doesn't like a car, you'll know it within the first two minutes.

Recently on Top Gear, Clarkson assessed the Nissan Leaf. Clarkson came to the conclusion that the Leaf was all too "boring," just like the rest of Nissan's upcoming line up.  But, Nissan PR and everyone here at Bay Ridge Nissan in Brooklyn, New York strongly disagree.

Tom Barnard, Nissan PR chief, contacted Top Gear to let them know that Clarkson's assessment of the Leaf contained "inaccuracies", adding the television show focused on the hosts' remarks and observations regarding the Leaf's battery life.

"The presenters' suggestion that the Leaf battery would be scrap after three years is plain wrong," Barnard wrote.1

"Other than that part we actually quite liked the review. They said lots of good things about the Leaf. But other media - who love to hate Top Gear it seems - leapt on this and said we had been moaning about the whole feature. There's a reason we feel passionately about the Leaf," he wrote. "We feel we need to be first with EV technology, even if it means we have to take a few punches at the beginning."2

Many Top Gear enthusiasts have a love-hate relationship with Jeremy Clarkson. Some love his British candor and humor, while others feel it can take away from the actual review of the cars. We want to know what your thoughts are.  How do you feel about Clarkson, and the new Nissan line up?
