Only Four Years to Reach One-Millionth Qashqai

Bay Ridge Nissan is pleased to announce that the one millionth-model Qashqai, pronounced Kash-key, rolled off the production line recently.  Although not a U.S. car this is a major milestone for Nissan and we couldn't help but announce it.

Similar in size to the hot-selling U.S. crossover, the Nissan Rogue, the Qashqai is offered in a range of four-cylinder engines. Depending on need and preference, drivers can choose from a front-wheel drive model operated by CVT or a more rugged all-wheel drive model operated by a manual transmission.

One reason why this is such a big deal for Nissan is that the one-millionth Nissan Qashqai rolled off the production line in a little over four years after it first hit showroom floors. On an annual basis, that translates to more than 250,000 Qashqai CUVs produced per year, making it one of the most successful British-manufactured cars ever built.

Speaking on the Nissan's Qashqai's ever-strong popularity, Kevin Fitzpatrick, Vice President Manufacturing, Nissan UK says, "The Nissan Qashqai has been a phenomenal success since its start of production just four and half years ago. Qashqai was a real crossover pioneer and producing one million in such a short space of time is a fantastic achievement, not just by staff at... Sunderland...but also by the designers and engineers..."1

The historic, one-millionth Nissan Qashqai is a silver colored 2.0-liter diesel TEKNA. You might be glad to know it didn't get shipped off to some random dealer. Instead it has been set aside and is expected to go on display at The O2 Arena in London. Reports indicate Nissan will hold a competition, inviting Nissan enthusiasts to enter and win the one-millionth Qashqai, which promises to be a collector's item in the long term. Details surrounding the competition have yet to be announced.
