Nissan LEAF First EV to Enter Cannonball Run

Nissan LEAF is headed to Ireland for the next generation of street racing. The classic Cannonball Run is headed overseas, and is running a combination of gasoline, diesel and alternative fuel racers riding during it.

In the 70's the Cannonball Run was known as a hazardous, renegade coast- to-coast car race, but today it is a less dangerous fundraiser to "raise money for Barretstown Camp, which caters to children with cancer and other serious illnesses."1

This year, in Ireland, ESB Ecars is sponsoring the EV LEAF. ESB hopes to show everyone that its electric car is a 'viable alternative' for both long and short distance travel. Everyone here at Bay Ridge Nissan - 6501 5th Ave in Brooklyn, New York also believes this, and thinks you should too.

The EV LEAF will maintain battery power thanks to pre-existing charging stations along the 600-plus mile course. The car will likely use quick-charging and conventional charging stations during the race, and will go nearly 100 miles before needing a re-charge.

The Nissan LEAF is actually the first EV to enter Cannonball Run. And, from everyone here at Bay Ridge Nissan in Brooklyn, New York, we wish ESB God Luck!
