Nissan Will Breathe New Life into Datsun by 2014

As the automotive landscape shifts, car makers continue to shift their vehicle offerings and respective brands along with it. Nissan is no exception. Over thirty years ago, the automaker decided to retire its Datsun line in order to unite its vehicles under one name. Since then, Nissan has become a household name across the globe and even found success bringing a luxury arm to life.

Now, with plenty of years of brand solidification under its belt, Nissan just might revive the Datsun name. Carlos Ghosn, Nissan Chief Executive, has tinkered with the idea of bringing back the brand for some time now. Company officials say that the Japanese automaker is fully preparing to reawaken Datsun models as early as 2014 and produce as many as 300,000 units a year.

What will change and what will remain the same for the new Datsun lineup? Bay Ridge Nissan can't say for sure as Nissan is still keeping much of the product strategy under wraps. However, we have heard that the plan is to offer up lower-cost Datsun models for emerging markets such as India, Indonesia and Russia.

At this point in time, it's looking like any forthcoming Datsun revival won't be seen by the enthusiasts at Bay Ridge Nissan, 6501 5th Ave Brooklyn, NY 11220. However, the automotive industry is nothing short of dynamic so we're prepared for the grounds to shift at any time.
