Nissan Calls on FedEx to Test Unconventional New NV200

When most consumers think FedEx, they think fast delivery. For the following two months, however, on-line shoppers and package senders in London will also equate the delivering service with green...green driving that is. Nissan has called on the company to help test out a fleet of all-electric Nissan NV200 vans.

At first glance FedEx may seem an odd choice to take on the task of EV testing. But for a city like London, it's a match made in delivery heaven. Think about it. For one, the electric vehicle drive range is well suited for quick jaunts from flat to flat or building to building. Additionally, the electric driveline excuses FedEx from paying the city's pricey congestion charge.

As for the NV200 EV's powertrain, Bay Ridge Nissan has no definite specs. We can tell you that the model is a brilliant fusion of the Nissan NV van and the Nissan LEAF. If the automaker's new brainchild is anything like its parent LEAF, we can expect somewhere around 107-hp with a 73-mile drive range.

Bay Ridge Nissan recognizes that the electric-powered NV200 is a bit more unconventional than other new Nissan models. Yet that's what makes Nissan so brilliant. Not only is the automaker willing to step away from the edge, but it has the smarts to look before leaping. In addition to FedEx, Nissan will also test the van variant in other field trials.

Be sure to keep your eyes open and see if you can spot the Nissan NV200 EV in its next guise. If you catch it before we do, Bay Ridge Nissan invites you to contact our brand experts online or let us know in person at 6501 5th Ave Brooklyn, NY 11220.
